After Bluffton disposed of Manchester with a 49-35 wire-to-wire victory, South Adams and Whitko took the floor to trim the field at the 2A sectional down to four teams and complete the pairings for Friday’s semifinals and the ACAC made it a 2-0 night as the Starfires forced 27 turnovers in a 61-42 victory over the Wildcats.Â
Winning the turnover margin helped the Starfires offset a rebound deficit (35-25) and move to 13-10 on the season.Â
The Starfires certainly did not start off the game hot, missing their first four free throw attempts and quickly falling behind 10-2. Coach Wayne Kreiger had seen enough and immediately called timeout and spoke to his girls about the box and one defense that Whitko was running to try to neutralize Macy Pries.Â
While that defense may have worked in regards to Macy Pries, the Wildcats could not stop the other Pries, 1000-point scorer Peyton.
