The final wrestling match of the season for the Bellmont Braves was, in essence, the final stage of grief for most of those in attendance as the program and its fans and wrestlers mourned the death of assistant coach Paul Gunsett. Just a day after the funeral, the Braves stepped back on the mat and flexed their muscles, honoring their past and looking to the future as the calendar turns from the dual format portion of the season to the individual tournaments.Â
The Braves won nine of 14 matches with Gunsett’s family in attendance and the Bellmont Gymnasium was as loud as it was all year as the team and its rabid fans did what they do best - wrestle and cheer. The home team won its 23rd dual of the season over the Carroll Chargers, 46-27.Â
