Decatur's Summer Concert Series for 2022 kicks off Thursday, the first of 14 music events to run weekly through August.

The Decades band starts it off with a three-hour show, 6-9 p.m. on the Madison St. Plaza. There is no charge to attend. As in past years, food vendors will be available and adult beverages will be supplied by 2 Pour Guys.

This year's series – the fifth on the plaza – features two appearances each by a couple of popular bands, Hubie Ashcraft and the Sweetwater All-Stars. Also in this year's lineup are three tribute bands, performing the music of the Eagles, AC/DC and The Doors.

All shows will be on Thursdays and on the plaza with the exception of a special event on the Fourth of July, a Monday, when the Ashcraft band will perform at Riverside Center as part of the city's annual fireworks celebration.

The Sweetwater band will be on tap the second Thursday of the series, 6-9 p.m. on June 9.
