Veterans Day ceremonies to be held at American Legion

    The American Legion Adams Post 43 will hold its annual Veterans Day ceremonies inside the Post at beginning at 11 a.m. Nov. 11, with the traditional ham and cornbread meal immediately following. All veterans and the public are invited to attend.
    Dennis Covert will be the featured speaker for this year's event. Covert enlisted in the U.S. Navy at age 18 and is a combat veteran of the Vietnam War. After separation from active duty in October 1969, Covert attended and graduated from Ball State University. He was employed with Merrill Lynch in Fort Wayne for 43 years and retired in June 2016. 
    Covert has been involved with Honor Flight for nearly seven years. He has traveled on the last 22 Honor Flights from Fort Wayne as a guardian, bus leader or trip leader. Covert was elected president of Honor Flight Northeast Indiana in April 2016, and continues to serve in that role.
    Honor Flight sponsors flights of all veterans, free of charge, to see the Memorials in Washington, D.C.
