Book sales are conducted each spring and fall by the Friends of the Library, which helps finance varied library projects, such as summer reading, music in Storybook Park (across from the library), puppet shows, science projects, visits by Santa Claus and Callithumpian events.
Aside from thousands of books (nonfiction, fiction, romance, children's, religious), there will be tapes, records, and other things at very low prices.
The members of the Friends of the Library will have a pre-event look at the merchandise from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 21. Membership costs $5 per year for a full-time student, 10 per year for a patron, $50 per year for a business or organization, $100 per year for a sustainer, $200 per year for a benefactor, $500 per year for the President's Club, and $1,000 per year for the Director's Club. Those who wish to join may pay on the 21st and get an early look at the goods. Those who wish to join by mail should send the appropriate amount to the Friends of the Library, 128 S. Third St., Decatur, 46733.
On the last two days there will be a $2-per-bag rule, with everything a person can pack in a bag, or in a box, costing just $2.
