Wrestler transfers to Yorktown

Senior Cole Vanhorn will make his debut for Yorktown High School at 140 pounds Saturday in the Delta Sectional, it was noted today by Delta Athletic Director Chris Conley.
Vanhorn transfered at semester from Franklin High School, where he was 7-3 for the season. Two years ago, Vanhorn made it to the individual state finals, and last year he was eliminated in the semistate.
"He passed all the IHSAA requirements," stated veteran Yorktown coach Trent McCormick on Vanhorn's status.
Vanhorn is seeded No. 2 to Muncie Central's Joey Crabtree (25-7) at the Delta Sectional.
In the dual match held earlier this year, Yorktown forfeited the 140-pound match to Bellmont's Brooks Faurote. Yorktown won a close dual with Bellmont, the third straight time the Tigers have defeated BHS. Bellmont won the previous 15 battles between the teams.
Yorktown stopped Bellmont's 12-year ride of going to the Team State Wrestling finals last year, 30-24, at the AC Regional. Earlier, Yorktown had downed Bellmont 52-19.
Currently, Bellmont 140-pounder Brooks Faurote is battling a sore left hand. He had a spiral break on one of his fingers at the Mishawaka Invitational, but he came back last week with a big brace and placed second at the NHC Tournament at Carroll.
Currently, Indianamat.com has Vanhorn listed as the top 140-pounder in the Fort Wayne Semistate area.
Apparently, Franklin High School signed off on the transfer, or Vanhorn would not have been able to make the move.
