I had always heard stories of Brian Lehrman even as a kid because we came from the same background. We graduated from the same grade school (SPI) and the same high school (Bellmont), but Brian’s name always came up on the ball diamonds at Hoagland, where many northern Adams County men held on to their dreams of playing ball for just one more year by playing fastpitch softball.
Brian was an exceptional athlete in his years at Bellmont, excelling on the gridiron with the football team and on the diamond under coach John Cate.
He was part of a team that won back-to-back Sectional titles and a Regional title in his senior season of 1979.
In his senior season with the Braves, Brian hit .440 with eight homers. As a pitcher, he recorded 58 strikeouts in 58 innings pitched.
Lehrman and teammate Mike Miller were named to the NEIAC all-conference team.
