What’s coming up around Adams County?

    There are several events coming up in the following weeks for Adams County residents. Make sure you know what is coming up so you can join in on the fundraisers, classes, etc.

    • The American Legion Post 43 Color Guard will begin holding its Friday Fish Fries from 5-7 p.m. Friday.
    The supper will be held the first Friday of each month until the beginning of Lent after which time the fish fries will be each Friday until Easter.
    These suppers have been well attended in the past and the Color Guard looks forward to another successful year of serving veterans and the general public.

    • Swiss Heritage Village & Museum will sponsor its annual Holiday Bazaar from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday. This event will be held at South Adams Schools in Berne and will offer more than 100 vendors/crafters to help meet all your holiday shopping needs.
    A professional photographer will be on site for Holiday portraits, and soups, sandwiches, pies and Swiss Heritage’s famous apple dumplings will be available for lunch. Admission is $2 for adults and students get in free.
    All proceeds will help support the South Adams Athletic Association and Swiss Heritage Society.

Nov. 11:
    • Common Ground Church will host a Hometown Holiday Craft Show and Vendor’s Fair from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Local holiday items will be available. Cookies and cocoa will be available for a donation. Coffee and donuts will be available at 9 a.m. and pizza and soda will be available at 11 a.m. There will be a Thanksgiving craft for children. To become a vendor, email ashley.thieme.amt@gmail.com.
    • The Adams County Fair Board, along with the 4-H Council, Adams County Extension Board and 4-H Clubs, will host their annual 4-H Soup and Sandwich and Auction fundraiser starting at 4 p.m. Nov. 11, in the 4-H Expo Hall Building, located on the 4-H Fairgrounds in Monroe.
    All proceeds from the meal and auction will be used for fairground improvements and upkeep. The meal will consist of 4-H chili, chicken noodle soup, potato soup, sloppy joe, ham, hotdogs and coney dogs; drinks; and soft serve ice-cream. Free will donations for the meal will be accepted.
    A silent auction and live auction will also be held with auctioneering services donated by Heartland Auction and Realty. 4-H representatives are in the process of requesting donations for the auction.

    The silent auction will begin at 4 p.m. and the live auction will begin at 6 pm.
    • Common Ground Church will host a Hometown Holiday Craft Show from 9 a.m.-3 p.m Nov. 11.
    Canned food items will be collected during this time. For each donated item, donators will receive a raffle ticket and will then be able to chose with gift they would like to win and place the ticket in the jar that correlates with the gift.
    All food will be donated to St. Vincent DePaul.
    Prizes include candles, a large wooden cross, toys and more.
    A children’s craft table will be set up during the event. Crafts for children will cost $2 per craft.
    Breakfast is $4 per person and includes two donuts and coffee, water or juice. Lunch is $4 per person and includes one slice of pizza and a can of soda or bottle of water.
    There will also be a cookie decorating table. Each cookie costs $1.
