Jacob D.J. Schwartz

    Jacob D.J. Schwartz, 78, of rural Berne, passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2010, at Greenville Hospital in Greenville, Pennsylvania.
    He was born on Sunday, February 21, 1932, in Hartville, Ohio.
Jacob married Emma A. Hilty on March 29, 1953; she preceded him in death. He married Barbara Delegrange, on October 14, 2004; she survives. Other survivors include six daughters: Mrs. Jacob B. (Delilah) Girod of rural Berne, Mrs. Andy W. (Anna) Schwartz of rural Monroe, Mrs. Jeary B. (Melinda) Girod of rural Bryant, Mrs. Leander A.R. (Mandy) Schwartz of rural Berne, Mrs. Harvey B. (Edith) Wickey of rural Berne, and Mrs. Joni E. (Emma) Wickey of rural Geneva; nine sons: Elmer E.J. Schwartz of rural Berne, Joe E.J. Schwartz of rural Bryant, Reuben E.J. Schwartz of rural Bryant, Jacob E.J. Schwartz of rural Berne, Ervin E.J. Schwartz of rural Berne, Enas E.J. Schwartz of rural Bryant, Ben E.J. Schwartz of rural Bluffton, Andy E.J. Schwartz of rural Berne, and Levi E.J. Schwartz of rural Geneva; 158 grandchildren; 83 great-grandchildren; five step-daughters: Mrs. Sam J. (Catherina D.B.) Eicker of rural Linesville, Pennsylvania; Mrs. Marcus M. (Christina) Schwartz of rural Walfingford, Kentucky; Mrs. Daniel S. (Merna) Schwartz of Conneautville, Pennsylvania; Mrs. Henry H. (Rosie) Miller of rural Atlantic, Pennsylvania; and Mrs. Daniel J. (Barbara) Eicher of rural Conneautville; four stepsons: Victor D.B. Delegrange of rural Conneautville; Raymond D.B. Delegrange of rural Conneautville; Danny D.B. Delegrange of rural Linesville, and John D.B. Delegrange of rural Linesville.
    He was preceded in death by one daughter, Lovina; one brother, Enas D.J. Schwartz; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Joe E.J. (Caroline) Schwartz; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
    His family will receive friends at the Andy E.J. Schwartz residence, 6204 S. County Rd. 300 East, rural Berne, from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. on Saturday, November 6, 2010, and from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. on Sunday, November 7, 2010.
    The funeral service will be at 9 a.m. on Monday, November 8, 2010, with Bishops Chris M. Schwartz and Ben M. Girod officiating.
    Interment will be in Blue Creek Cemetery of Adams County.
