Flood report rules out new jail on property owned by Porter

And it’s back to square one.
On the recommendation of Maumee River Basin Commission Executive Director Rodney Renkenberger, the Adams County Commissioners officially eliminated a 22-acre tract of land south of Decatur offered by the Porter Family Foundation as a viable site for the construction of the proposed Adams County Jail. The rejection came during their weekly meeting Monday afternoon in the Service Complex.
The written recommendation from Renkenberger concludes that, “After analyzing information provided by Christopher B. Burke Engineering LLC, (the MRBC’s on-staff engineer) and reviewing the delineated 500-year floodplain on the Adams County GIS map ... I would strongly urge you to seek an alternative site for construction of your new jai.”
