Decatur Police Department is now accepting applications for reserve officers

    The Decatur Police department will accept applications for Reserve Police Officers from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. March 5-16 at the police department, 112 S. 7th St.
    Applications can be picked up from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday at the department or downloaded from the department's new website, www.decaturinpolice.com. Applications must be dropped off at the department; email applications will not be accepted.
    Applicants must be U.S. citizens, possess a high school diploma or GED, be at least 21 years old but no greater than 36 and have no criminal convictions or domestic violence offenses. Applicants must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record, a copy of their birth certificate and must possess and honorable discharge if there is prior military experience. Applicants must pass a physical agility and written test. Qualifying applicants will be given an oral interview before the Reserve Board and must pass a drug screen and background check.
