CERT seeking preparedness

The Adams County Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT) recently conducted a search and rescue exercise at Swiss Heritage Village in Berne.
The CERT program began here in 2009 and, according to an announcement from the county Emergency Management Agency (EMA), the program "educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact the area and trains them in basic disaster response skills."
Those skills include fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.
CERT members receive training in classrooms and in various drills.
The CERT program is sponsored by the Adams County EMA and the federal EMA.
Those interested in such classes should call Mark Chaffins, 724-5320, or contact him at www.adamscountycert.com.
