Bunge to test sirens Wednesday

Bunge North America will test its emergency alert systems at its Decatur plant starting at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The tests will run for approximately 90 minutes, according to Plant Manager Keith Sanders.
Sanders said the tests are being held in conjunction with a tour of the facility by personnel from the Decatur Fire Department.
The audible emergency alert systems are designed to notify employees of emergency conditions in the process area of the plant.
Sanders said Bunge conducts routine tests to ensure the systems are functional in the unlikely event of an emergency within the facility’s soybean processing area. Alarms will start and stop multiple times as the devices are tested. Sanders said the alerts are of a high volume, similar to tornado sirens.
In the event of severe weather Wednesday evening, the tests will be cancelled and rescheduled.
