Alex Fuelling named All-American

Bellmont's three-time first team All-State outside hitter Alex Fuelling has received the ultimate honor in high school sports, selection to an All-American team. placed Fuelling, who led Bellmont to the 2010 3A Indiana state crown, on their 2010 All-American list, which includes the 150 top prep volleyball players in the country.
"I'm very proud and very happy for her," stated Bellmont volleyball coach Craig Krull on hearing the news Friday night.
"Based on her accomplishments, plus all the hours she puts in the gym not only in high school but in club ball, she's very deserving," stated the BHS coach.
"In my coaching career at Bellmont, she's definitely the most decorated player with four All-NHC awards and three times named All-State. When my seniors graduate, we give the girls plaques which list their awards and numbers. She had the biggest plaque list I've ever see. She's definitely the most highly awarded play to come through Bellmont," praised Krull.
Fuelling was a part of two state championship teams at BHS as she started as a freshman on the 2007 champs. Though she was by far and away the leader in kills this year, it seemed easy to defer to teammates who were hot late in the season, especially when Fuelling would attract the attention of the opposition's best blockers.
"She was very much a team player. She didn't care about who led in kills and was happy for the success of her teammates. She learned that from the seniors who had a similar approach in the 2007 state run. She had a very good team attitude, and that was important for us," said Krull.
Fuelling, the daughter of Eric and Leesa Fuelling, recently signed a letter of intent to play volleyball at Morehead State in Kentucky.
