Ainsworth calls special meeting to address rapid spread of COVID-19

    Adams County Health Officer Dr. Michael Ainsworth has called a special meeting of the Adams County commissioners and council, the mayors and council members of Decatur and Berne, as well as the council members of Monroe and Geneva, and the superintendents of North Adams, Adams Central and South Adams at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the cafeteria at Adams Central.
    The purpose for the meeting is to discuss and address the rapid increase in the number of positive COVID-19 cases in Adams County, and the resulting impact on health care and other resources in the county and surrounding communities, and to formulate a plan to slow the spread of the virus.
    Due to social distancing requirements, the number of individuals able to attend will be limited. All public officials, counsel for those officials and members of the press will be given priority for seating. All those in attending shall wear face coverings.
    This meeting is being called by the Adams County, Indiana Health Officer, pursuant to the emergency notice provisions of Indiana Code 5-14-1.5-5(d) to address the dangerous and rapidly increasing number of positive COVID-19 cases within Adams County.
