‘A labor of love’ — Annual Community Update inside today’s edition

BJ Riley

Inside today’s (March 28, 2019) Decatur Daily Democrat is our annual progress edition, Community Update 2019. Everyone here at the Daily Democrat is pleased to be able to present this special section to our readers. To call it a labor of love may be too simple. It certainly takes much labor and after we are done, we really love it. The love did not come until after all the labor, and we are very proud of this year’s edition. In the past we have inserted a different section each day, presenting the publication over four days. This year, we decided to insert the entire section into one edition to ensure our readers did not miss any of this year’s Community Update.
This year’s publication focuses on a great blend of stories about people and places in Decatur and Adams County that give the community its flavor. The mission of this project every year is to give readers a glimpse of how special it is to live, work and play in this community.
The staff did a great job with words and photos to depict some of the wonderful attributes of our area. There are some people highlighted that you may know, but you will learn truly what makes them special. There are some people that you may not know, but you will learn that they are special and are making a great contribution. There are also great stories on the folks of the Adams County Sheriff’s Department and the Decatur Police Department. It will help you to get to know better those hard-working individuals who are patrolling the highways and byways to protect the people of Decatur and Adams County.
I am very proud of the effort of the staff in their hard work to create a publication that helps to show what a great place Decatur and Adams County are. Editor Jannaya Andrews and her staff did a great job in telling compelling stories that are both unique and important in recognizing why this community is such a great place.
I would like to recognize the wonderful employees of the Decatur Daily Democrat and the hard work they each perform every day to publish the newspaper. The staff cares about the newspaper and they give a full effort to service our readers and advertisers. I am proud of their efforts and appreciate their dedication to the newspaper and the community. I am fortunate to be working with such a great group of folks.
So, we hope that you enjoy this year’s Community Update 2019. We welcome any feedback or comments. Please feel free to email me at BJRiley@decaturdailydemocrat.com or call me at 260-724-2121.
