MONROE— With 1:46 to go in the first quarter, the Raiders of Southern Wells scored a bucket to cut the Adams Central lead to 11-8 in Friday night's contest at the Hangar.
The visitors would not score again, however, until the 6:35 mark in the third quarter as the Jets blanked the Raiders in the second quarter on their way to a route 62-23 in their first conference game of the season.
LEO-CEDARVILLE — Leo clinched their ACAC mat showdown with Adams Central Thursday, 45-30, after earning falls in the final two matches as Eddie Lorraine at 113 and Chase Hissong at 120 schooled their Central foes with splattos.
The Lions of coach Josh Donner scored seven falls in all, to the Jets four, and won eight of the 14 matches.
"We had that conversation before we got here. We knew we had to stay off our our backs, and it didn't happen," stated Adams Central coach Doug Schultz.
BERNE— The Starfire swim squads defended their home pool on Tuesday night against county-rival Adams Central in a tight girls meet, 84-82, while the boys coasted to a 104-73 victory.
Despite their limited numbers this season, South Adams has been dominant in their individual events leaving the final numbers a bit misleading this season. The Lady Stars finally earned a “W” to go along with the excellent times against Central.
