The state's third-ranked Norwell Knights had a battle on their hands Thursday night for the first six innings in the class 3A baseball sectional at Bellmont as they led by just a 3-2 count over the Braves in the opening round of tourney play.
However, in the top of the seventh, the Knights, now 27-3 on the year, showed the merit of their ranking battering Bellmont pitching for six runs on five hits and two walks and advanced to the next round with a 9-2 decision over Bellmont.

FORT WAYNE—The Bellmont girls track team qualified athletes for the IHSAA state finals track meet in eight events Tuesday night and established five new school records en route to a huge second place team finish in the regional meet at Northrop High School.

BUTLER—A two-run homerun in the top of the sixth inning proved to be the final straw against South Adams as the Lady Stars' season ended in a dramatic 6-5 loss at the hands of the host Eastside in sectional play.
After a single with one out by Ellie Parker, the Blazers' lead-off batter, Kerrisa Lockwood, belted a two-run blast to give Eastside their final lead.
