Leah D. Dalton, 91, Bluffton, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at Bluffton Regional Medical Center.
She was a resident of Bluffton since October of 2010. Leah was born March 30, 1923 in Springfield, Mass., to Kenneth and Marion (Reed) Chapman. She lived most of her life in the Boston area. She worked for many years in the Wellesley (Mass.) School District and previously was a switch board operator at New England Telephone Company.
She obtained her life saving badge and loved the beach and spending time on Cape Cod.
Leah is survived by a daughter, Sharen (Mark) Davis, of Chino Hills, Calif.; a son, William “Billy” Dalton, of rural Bluffton; a grandson, Joshua Davis, of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; and a sister, Jean (Joseph) Merton, of East Long Meadow, Mass.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth Chapman and George Chapman; and a daughter.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home, with Pastor Craig Cortright officiating.
Calling will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
