Thomas F. Eichhorn Jr., 62, Fort Wayne, passed away at 2:28 a.m. Sunday, March 30, 2014, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. His death was unexpected and followed a brief illness.
Tom was born Monday, Dec. 17, 1951, in Decatur, the son of the late Thomas F. and Leota Madge (Waldron) Eichhorn Jr.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge 1311 and the Eagles Lodge 2653, both in Decatur. Tom was a graduate of Bellmont High School and attended ITT, studying automotive mechanics.
Tom was employed at International Harvester in Fort Wayne for many years. He later worked at North American Van Lines (now SIRVA), retiring March 28, 2006, after 12 years of service. Following his retirement he was employed at the Fort Wayne Auto Auction.
Surviving are his daughter, Lindsay (Xavier) Davis of Atlanta, Ga.; a grandson, Devin Davis of Atlanta, Ga.; a granddaughter, Natalia Davis of Atlanta, Ga.; a friend, Karen Barton of Fort Wayne; a step-son, Todd Schweyer of Decatur; four sisters, Beth A. McIntyre, Vicki Williams, Cheryl Bauermeister and Amber Eichhorn, all of Decatur; and two brothers, Michael Eichhorn and Tim Eichhorn, both of Decatur.
A Moose Memorial Service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home. Following the Moose Service, a funeral service will follow, also being held at the funeral home, with Rev. Gary Bowers officiating.
Friends will be received from 2-6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home .
Preferred memorials are to the Heart Transplant Fund at Lutheran Hospital.
