Carl V. Bultemeier, 86, Hoagland, passed away at 1:45 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at his residence following a short illness.
He was born Sunday, Dec. 11, 1927, in Fort Wayne, the son of the late Victor and Wilhelmina (Selking) Bultemeier. He married Dorothy Lepper Sept. 2, 1950, in New Haven; she survives.
Carl was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church-Bingen, Heritage Lions Club and the Hoagland Area Advancement Association. He retired from the Hoagland Volunteer Fire Department after 35 years of service. Carl was a member of the American Legion Post 420 in Monroeville.
He served his country in the United States Army during World War II.
Carl retired in February 1981 from International Harvester Company after 37 years of service. Following his retirement, he had worked part-time at Madison Cabinet.
Surviving are two sons, Ronald C. (Judy) Bultemeier and Keith A. (Joan) Bultemeier, both of Monroeville; a daughter, Cherly A. Sicks of New Haven; a sister, Marie Wiefeldt of Monroeville; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and 1 step-great-great-grandchild.
Preceding Carl in death was a sister in infancy.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Feb. 28, 2014, in the St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen with Pastor Peter Brock officiating.
Interment will follow in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery-Bingen.
Friends will be received from 1-4 and 5-8 p.m. Thursday in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, and one hour prior to the service at the church Friday.
