Michael E. Bohrer, 60, Monroeville, passed away at 11:46 a.m. Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at his residence, following a period of failing health.
He was born Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1953, in Fort Wayne, the son of the late Edward Bohrer and Freda V. (Hughes) Smith; who survives. He married Vicki Adams; she passed away Sept. 2, 2013, in Texas.
Michael was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart. He worked in the auto parts industry in Texas, before recently moving to Indiana.
Surviving are two brothers, J. Tony (Linda) Smith and Timothy D. (Rita) Smith, both of Monroeville; and three sisters, Sheila A. (Mark) Smith of Warsaw, Cathy (Rick) Smith of Monroeville and Gelana E. (Thomas) Korte of Decatur.
Preceding Michael in death was his stepfather, John T. Smith in 2007.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, with Pastor Brent Hickman officiating.
Interment will follow in the Monroeville Memorial Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by American Legion Post 420 and the VFW Color Guard from Monroeville. Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
