Neil R. Hesher, 82, Daytona Beach, Fla., passed away peacefully Jan. 18, 2014, at home after a short battle with cancer.
Neil was born and raised in Decatur where he graduated from Decatur High School. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force in Japan. Neil lived in Decatur before moving to Colorado and then to Florida. He was an entrepreneur who owned several businesses during his life. He was a Master Mason and a member of the Decatur lodge since 1957.
Neil enjoyed boating, fishing and traveling. He loved building and flying model airplanes and was a member of the Daytona Beach Radio Control Association.
Surviving are his loving wife of 63 years, Janet (Ruck) Hesher; three sons, Nelson, Mark and Bruce Hesher; eight grandchildren; and great-grandchildren all around Florida.
Neil was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Florence Hesher; and a brother, Ronald Hesher.
A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. Feb. 9 at the Halifax Hospice Chapel, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, Fla.
