The new Adams Central school board member is the old Adams Central school board member.
Steve Bailey, who retired from the board just two years ago after serving for 20 years, was renamed to the board at Tuesday night's board meeting on a 4-2 vote.
Bailey, who is president of the Decatur branch of First Merchants Bank, was supported by board president John Sipe and members Brian Tonner, Wes Kuntzman, and Steve Maller.
Candidate John Carroll won the votes of board members Dave Fox and Mike Brown.
The third candidate, Juli Thieme, received no notes, but she and Carroll were thanked by Sipe for having sought the position.
Sipe, who served all 20 years with Bailey, said of him, "It's hard to vote against someone with his knowledge and experience, especially in these times."
Bailey will be sworn into office at the board's November 9 meeting and will serve the remaining two years of former member Barry Ehinger's term. Ehinger resigned last month after being named the board's paid representative to oversee the $10 million construction and renovation project at the school.
