Mary Joan (Leitz) Edington, 84, Fort Wayne, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home.
She was born Sept. 24, 1929, the daughter of the late Raymond P. and Estella (Parks) Leitz.
When Mary was 10 years old, the family moved to Decatur and she graduated from Decatur High School in 1947. She married James Robert Edington in 1949; they lived in Bluffton until the family moved to Fort Wayne in 1960.
Mary was employed by the Shawnee Branch Library and L.S. Ayres. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, cooking, reading and the companionship of her many cats over the years. She sang in the Trinity Episcopal Church choir for more than 10 years.
Surviving are her daughter, Katie of Rockville, three sons, Timothy (Marla) and Michael, both of Fort Wayne and Christopher (Rebecca) of Portland, Ore.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her brothers, Darwin and Jerry Leitz.

Per Mary's request, there will be no services or calling. The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
