JoEllen Eidam, chief executive officer at Adams Memorial Hospital, reported to the Adams Health Network Board of Trustees Wednesday night the hospital for a brief time on Wednesday morning was completely full, with no beds available, prompting one member to use a Christmas phrase “no room at the inn.” Eidam said the hospital is licensed for 25 acute care patients and has a total of 64 rooms. Those include 10 rooms in the Behavioral Health Services department, observation, obstetrics, med-surg and other locations. She said all hospitals have agreements with other hospitals to divert patients to in case a patient needed to be admitted and a bed was not available at their hospital. Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne is the facility that Adams County Hospital has an agreement with if necessary, but Eidam emphasized no AMH patients were diverted to Fort Wayne on Wednesday for admission.
