Anselm B. (Jack) Hackman Jr., 85, Decatur, died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, at Woodcrest Nursing Center. Jack was born Dec. 9, 1927, in Decatur, to the late Anselm B. and Christina (Ulman) Hackman. He married Berniece Agnes Kintz on May 28, 1949.
Jack was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He retired from Teeple Truck Line in Decatur after 30 years of service. Jack was an avid hunter and card player.
Survivors include his wife, Berniece A. Hackman, Decatur; three daughters, Deborah (Robert) Ault and Sarah (Eric) Johnson, both of Fort Wayne, and Amy (Patrick) Smith of Churubusco; two sons, Christopher (Donna) Hackman of Avilla and Andrew (Donna) Hackman of New Haven; a brother, James Hackman of Decatur; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Samuel J. Hackman, four brothers and a sister.
Holy Rosary will be recited at 8:30 a.m. Thursday at Woodcrest Porter Auditorium, followed by a memorial visitation from 9-11 a.m. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m., also at Woodcrest Porter Auditorium. Father Patrick Joseph will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
