BLUFFTON — For the second year in a row, Bellmont has put girls golf on the radar in Indiana advancing to regionals with a third place finish Saturday at Timberridge Golf Course.
The Squaws took the bronze medal with a team score of 368 qualifying as the last team to advance with Homestead winning the sectional outright with a score of 359 and Canterbury taking second at 365.
"We all played great and the girls should be very proud!" exclaimed BHS coach Andy Heim after the sectional finish.
Advancing without a team was South Adams sophomore Sydney Willis with a score of 80, good enough for second place overall, while Amber Nelson of Norwell also advances as the medalist of the day shooting a 78. South Side's Zoe Brehm shot an 85 to advance as the third and final individual without a team.
Homestead's Annie Butchko shot an 83 as the third place shooter overall, then, after Brehm, Rachel Klingensmith was fifth place overall with an 85 as well to lead the Squaws.
Freshman Morgan Ellsworth officially got her feet wet in post-season play shooting an 89 for the Squaws netting her second place on the team. Kelsey Roth shot a 95 on the day as Bellmont's fifth shooter, while Julia Brewer had a 99 and Macy Phegley shot a 100 to round out the scores.
