Richard E. Barger, 80, of Wells County, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2013, at Ossian Health Care.
Richard was born August 1, 1933, in Wells County to the late Orville Barger and Edith C. Bauman.
He married Marjorie M. (Bower) Wine on July 24, 1976, in Bluffton.
Richard was a member of Sonlight Wesleyan Church in Bluffton. He was a farmer and worked at Wayne Metal Company for 26 years.
Among survivors are his wife, Marjorie M. (Bower) Wine; two sons, Jeff and Richie Barger Jr., both of Decatur; three stepchildren, Sherry L. James of Huntington, Teri (Rick) Wilson of Gainesville, Fla., and Kerrie (Steve) Johnson of Redkey; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Virgean Bowers of Decatur and Mildred Riley of Monroe.
Richard was preceded in death by a son, Scott A. Barger; daughter, June E. Barger; four sisters, Marcelle Gerber, Wilma Frand, Phyllis Reinhart, and Helen Thieme.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and one hour prior to service at the Goodwin-Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 29, at Sonlight Wesleylan Church, Bluffton, with Rev. Lyle Breeding officiating. Burial will be at Six Mile Cemetery in Bluffton.
