St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery is getting some upgrades these days.
The cemetery board recently approved board members Greg Brite and Phil Wolpert and Decatur American Legion member Bruce Reidenbach to go through the entire cemetery and update the veterans' grave markers.
When Brite visited Pleasant Dale's cemetery recently, he said he noticed that veterans' plastic and aluminum grave markers had been replaced with ones made from more solid and longer-lasting materials. Since the plastic and aluminum markers tend to fall into disrepair rather quickly, Brite decided it would be nice for the veterans buried in St. Joe's Cemetery to have more permanent markers. (He said that the goal was for the new markers to last at least 100 years.)
