The Adams County Commissioners, during their regular weekly meeting on Monday, approved the purchase of an insurance policy that protects the county's financial interest in the covered bridge near Ceylon.
The insurance policy was required as part of a rehabilitation grant from the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA).
The commissioners accepted a quote from Star Financial that will provide $400,000 in coverage for the bridge, at an annual cost of $5,000.
Also on Monday, the commissioners learned from County Engineer Tim Barkey that a contract has been executed in the amount of $21,000 with E & B Paving of Huntington for work on a bridge deck on County Road 100 N across Yellow Creek.
County maintenance supervisor Dave Meyer reported a contract has been executed with Hitchcock Construction in the amount of $2,200 to repair basement steps at the county courthouse.
Sheriff Shane Rekeweg sought and received permission from the board to advertise once again for a parttime employee in the county dispatch center. Rekeweg said he is having difficulty keeping the position filled.
