A rough ride may get a bit smoother for Monroe residents if all goes according to plan.
Monroe Town Council President Al Lehman said at last week's town council meeting that Van Buren St., south of US 124, has been "a mess" for quite some time and needs to be resurfaced. The problem is the town doesn't have enough money in the Motor Vehicle Fund to cover the cost. However, the Economic Development Fund (EDF) does.
Lehman said he recently learned the EDF could be used to repair the street since there are commercial buildings in the area, and suggested the council move to use these funds to repair Van Buren.
