Robert Norman Kreager, 92, of Florida, formerly of Monroeville, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2013, at Sturgill Hospice located in Brooksville, Fla.
Robert was born Saturday, October 23, 1920, in Monroeville, to the late Andrew Wilson and Frances (O'Shaughnessey) Kreager.
He married LaVonne Casselman on December 16, 1978, in Orlando, Fla.; she passed away on June 19, 2007.
Robert was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Monroeville and a former Lions Club member in Florida. He enjoyed stained glass art and oil painting. Robert was a 1938 graduate of Garfield High School; Indiana Teachers State College; Northwestern in 1943; Harvard in 1943; and Florida State in 1957. He received a BS in English/Speech in 1943 and a MS Spec Inst in 1951.
Robert served his country in the United States Navy during World War II from 1942-1955, achieving the rank of Lieutenant.
Among survivors are two sons, R. Michael Kreager of Gervais, Ore., and Edward Kreager of Hernando Beach, Fla.; daughter, Deborah Cannon of Lakeland, Fla.; stepson, John (Lorraine) Hobbs of San Diego, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Sally (Roy) Minnick of Decatur and Ann (Jim) Saalfrank of Hoagland; five grandchildren; great-grandchild; seven stepgrandchildren; 13 stepgreat-grandchildren; and a nephew.
Robert was preceded in death by two half-sisters, Elsie Crates and Ethel Moore; half-brother, Ray Lennington; and half-niece, Sylvia Hanner.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 13, in Monroeville Memorial Cemetery, with military honors by the Monroeville American Legion Color Guard.
