Dorothy L. Brandenburg, 91, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Woodcrest Nursing Center Extended Care Unit.
She was born on Thursday, May 5, 1921, in Detroit, Mich., to the late Harlan E. Williams and the late Lillie May (Sprayberry) Mitchell.
She married William G. Brandenburg on May 30, 1946, in Mount Clemens, Mich.; he passed away October 4, 1999.
Dorothy was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Decatur where she was a former Stewardship & Evangelism Board member, assisted in the church office, and had also volunteered at the Zion Lutheran School as a teacher's aide. She retired in 1987 as vice-president of the First State Bank with 26 years of service.
Among survivors are her daughter, Barbara Frane of Decatur; three grandchildren, Scott A. (Cari Bible) Wittwer, Kent A. (Kathy Dolen) Wittwer, and Zachary S. Brandenburg; 10 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Brandenburg; two sisters, Betty Blomberg and Lucille Schwartz; and her son-in-law, Don Frane.
Friends will be received from 2-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday, April 15, at Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, and from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, at Zion Lutheran Church.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, also at the church, with Pastor Robert Becker and Pastor Phil Phifer officiating.
Burial will follow in Decatur Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to Zion Lutheran Church and school or the Adams County unit of the American Cancer Society.
