Dick W. Johnson, 80, formerly of Decatur, died February 21, 2013.
He was born in 1932 in Decatur to Otto and Bessir Johnson, the youngest of eight children.
Dick graduated from Decatur High School in 1950. He served four years in the U.S. Navy, first as a yeoman, then as a medic. Dick met his wife Louise while stationed in Hawaii. They married in 1952 and had four children, Eric, Jonell, Craig, and Clint.
Dick graduated from Westmont College with a degree in education. He then received his master's degree in school administration and school law from San Fernando Valley State College.
Dick and Louise moved to Cloverdale, Calif., in 1969, and he retired from special education administration in 1994. He served as a deacon for Cloverdale's First Baptist Church for 32 years. He was a beloved educator, and was also known for his deep faith and love.
Memorial services were held in the Cloverdale high school gym on March 9.
