Peggy Ann Newsome, 58, of Dunkirk, Ind., passed away at 8:45 p.m. on Thursday, February 14, 2013, in the company of family members at her residence.
Peggy was born in Decatur on March 7, 1954, to Mary E. (Brewster) Robinson, of Geneva, and the late Eugene E. Robinson.
She was a 1972 graduate of South Adams High School. She was self-employed as a co-owner of Newsome's Tree & Stump Removal in Dunkirk for 19 years. She had worked 18 years at CTS in Berne, six years at Peytons in Bluffton, and was the owner of Shamrock Inn in Geneva for eight years.
Peggy was a member of VFW Post 6751 Ladies Aux., and she loved gardening, camping, traveling, and especially going on cruises with Rick, her loving husband, who survives.
Among other survivors are two daughters, Tessa (Randy) Stevens and Jennifer (Chris) Nibarger, both of Dunkirk; two sons, Trent (Breanna) Shaffer, of Geneva and Ricky (Teresa) Newsome, of Dunkirk; 14 grandchildren, Isaiah Newsome of Eaton, Grant and Collin Shaffer of Geneva, and Brent Davis, Brandon and Logan Hollingsworth, Skylar, Dallas, and Rayma Newsome, Austin and Jaiden Roser, Cameron and Caden Nibarger, all of Dunkirk; sister, Betti Robinson of Geneva; and brother, Roger (Shelly) Robinson of Geneva.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 19 at MJS Mortuaries Dunkirk Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 20, at Dunkirk Church of the Nazerene, 226 East Center Street, Dunkirk, with Pastor Tom Fett officiating.
Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Geneva.
Preferred memorials are to Jay County Cancer Society.
