Russel H. “Sonny” Jauregui, 70, of Decatur, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, January 30, 2013.
Sonny was born on February 2, 1942, in Decatur to the late Russel and Ruth (Blount) Jauregui.
On August 20, 1999, he married Gail Alverson.
Sonny was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. He served six years in the Army National Guard and was a member of Decatur American Legion Post 43. He retired from BF Goodrich and Dolco factories.
Among survivors are his wife, Gail Jauregui of Decatur; son Scott R. (Krista) Jauregui of Monroe; four daughters, Rhonda (Bob Steinke) Hubbard of Angola, Cassie (James Ezell) Tinnel of Fort Wayne, Rebecca L. (Nicholas) Hoffman of Roanoke, Ind., and JoeyAnne Blossom of Fort Wayne; sister, Mariana Tharp of Decatur; 10 granddaughters; grandson; great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. on Friday, February 1, at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home. Reciting of the Holy Rosary will be at 4:30 p.m. Visitation will also be from 9-10 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, at St. Mary’s Parish Hall.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. Father David Voors will officiate.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to the Adams County Heart Club and Family Life Care-Hospice.
