FORT WAYNE—With only the Bellmont quad left before sectionals, Adams Central tangled with North Side in a non-conference battle on Wednesday night earning a four-set victory over the Redskins 26-24, 25-12, 25-10, 25-13.
The Lady Jets found themselves on the wrong end of a slow start in set one that they could not recover from combined with the good play of North Side out of the gate. AC would keep the set close until finally the Lady Redskins pulled out the victory needing an extra point to do so in a 26-24 set one victory.
The Lady Jets would snap out of the funk in time for set two.
From the first serve of set two until the final whistle of set four, AC dominated North Side for their 18th win of the season as the Jets now sit at 18-7 heading into the weekend battle at Bellmont for the annual quad.
The Lady Jets and the Squaws will tangle with a few out-of-towners from Wapahani and Wes-Del in what has traditionally been a great tune-up for both squads just before sectionals.
In the match against North Side, AC was led by their lone senior Bess Fiechter who had 16 kills with a block and seven digs. Whitney Peterson aided with 10 kills, an assisted block, and seven digs.
Sophomore Haley Gross had a fantastic day at the net disregarding the Redskin front line and ending up with six solo blocks as well as two assists to go along with eight kills and three digs.
