The newest member of the Decatur Police Department was sworn in Monday by Adams County Clerk-Treasurer Phyllis Whitright.
Decatur native Derek Loshe has been a reserve officer with the police department for the past one and one-half years and worked in the Allen County jail for approximately two years prior to returning to Decatur.
"I've always wanted to be a cop," said Loshe. "I was born and raised in Decatur so to be able to be a cop in my hometown is the icing on the cake. I'm just excited to get started."
Loshe is a 2002 graduate of Bellmont High School and received a degree in criminal justice from ITT University.
