The Northeast Hoosier Conference has released its all-conference lists for the 2012 boys tennis season featuring four Bellmont Braves making the cut.
Sophomore Evan Selking tops the list for BHS making the second team in singles, while David Baker snatched a spot in the honorable mentions. In the doubles category, Nick Huffine and Garrett McCord were selected to the all-second team for Bellmont.
The Carroll Chargers who the conference with a perfect 7-0 mark including a win over second place Homestead who finished 6-1 just behind them. The Chargers placed their entire varsity roster of seven players on the NHC lists including top selection overall Ross Marano who plays Adams Central's Nathan Barger today at the regional level at Carroll. Luke Garrison also made the first team in singles as Carroll's number two this season. Sophomore Austin Legere rounds out the singles for the Chargers with a second-team selection. Carroll's number one doubles team made the first team, Cory Daman/Cody Chase, while their second squad made second-team, Dan Quade/Dillon Fernando.
Behind Carroll and the only other team to place four members on the all-conference list was Homestead who had number one Matt Steiner make first team in singles, Mitch Gray on the second team, and number one doubles Emmett Elizondo/Jack Stanley make honorable mention.
Columbia City's Derek Hinen finished second in the voting for singles making first team with freshman Niko Rongos taking honorable mention. East Noble's Matt Stallman earned the final spot on the first-team with Evan Hart earning honorable mention as a sophomore. DeKalb number one singles player Brandon Fruits earned a second-team spot along with teammate Nate Helmkamp, while Zach Martin was Honorable mention for the Barons. Norwell's number one doubles team of Tanner Matthews/Luke Hunter earned first-team honors for doubles.
Bellmont finishes with a 4-3 mark in the conference for third place behind the Spartans and Chargers. Carroll's Kyle Stoffel earned NHC coach of the year honors.
