BERNE—Bellmont got back to their winning ways with a decisive 5-0 win against their lowly county rival South Adams on Wednesday night.
The Starfires are still chugging through a rebuilding season of sorts and the Braves took advantage sealing three of the five wins in in double-goose egg fashion.
David Baker and Mason Selking topped SA's Landon Lehman and Cole Myers at two and three singles respectively by a 6-0, 6-0 count. At number two doubles, Logan Baker and Drake Reidenbach gave the zero treatment to Dylan Pierce/Blake Baumer 6-0, 6-0 as well.
At number one doubles, Jared Rife and Dexter Miller managed to steal a game from Bellmont's Garrett McCord/Nick Huffine duo at number one doubles but the Braves won the match 6-0, 6-1. At number one singles, Evan Selking topped Brayden Myers 6-3, 6-1 in the most interesting match of the day.
Bellmont coach Joe Selking was pleased with his team after the win, "Everyone played great and at a high level today. Good win."
Bellmont's JV also earned a win against the Stars in a closer 3-2 contest.
Robbie Ehlerding topped Cody Simindinger at number one singles 8-2, while Ben Fullenkamp earned a 6-1 decision over Simindinger at number four. Morgan Werling was edged out at number two singles by South Adams' Cody Baker, 8-5, but Sidney Peterson defeated Brett Litwiller of the Stars 8-2.
At number one doubles, Austin Mann/Chris Faurote were felled by Baker/Litwiller 6-3.
The Braves travel to Homestead tonight starting at 5 p.m., while SA also has a conference battle traveling to Bluffton with the same start time.
