Three Adams County baseball players were named to the honorable mention list for their respective classes this week on the All-State baseball teams named by the IHSBCA (Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association).
Representing Bellmont in 3A is Brian Hakes who made HM as a third baseman. Only Troy Paris of Mount Vernon received more votes and was named to the first team. Also on the 3A All-State team from the area is Taylor Horn, senior first baseman from Leo and Tyler Anderson, a senior pitcher from Hamilton Heights, both of whom pitched against Bellmont in the post season just a few weeks ago.
Josh VanMeter from Norwell and Jackson Boyce from Leo were also named to the honorable mention lists with Hakes.
In 2A, Dustin Wanner, senior centerfielder from South Adams, and Dalton Combs, junior first baseman from Adams Central, were named on the honorable mention list.
Chris Eckersley, a senior from Park Tudor, received more votes for first base and was named to the first team. Eric Price of Sheridan, Austin Hooker of Tipton, and Kevin Rex of Park Tudor were all named to the first team outfield just ahead of Wanner.
Other notable players from around the area included members from 4A schools. Austin Plasterer, a senior second baseman from Homestead, made the first team in class 4A, as did his teammate, senior outfielder Brandon Soat. South Side's Will Coursen-Carr made the first team as well as a pitcher. Huntington North's Kendall Whitman & Cody Frazier, Bayley Coleman of DeKalb, and Grant Wilson of Carroll.
Pendleton Heights' Mitch Patishall and Jacob Post from Chesterton were each on the list as the lone members playing Indiana baseball this season that have been drafted by Major League Baseball.
