17.4 river crest likely

    The St. Marys River was expected to crest at about 17.4 feet — just above its flood stage — in Decatur this morning, local weather station officials were informed by the National Weather Service.
   A saturated city received .16 of an inch of rain in the past 24 hours, boosting the three-day total to 1.26.
   The St. Marys, meanwhile, has risen 10 feet in the past 48 hours, to 16.6 feet at 7 a.m. today.
   The area continues under a flood warning.
   No more rain is expected here today, and there is just a slight chance of snow showers Saturday night. Forecasters also see a 30 percent chance of rain in this area on Monday and a 50 percent chance on Monday night.
   Meanwhile, much cooler conditions are prevailing, with a high near only 37 degrees like today and through the weekend.
