Paul L. Harden, 92, of Decatur, passed away on Friday November 25, 2011, at the residence of his daughter, Nancy, and grandson, David Ireland, where he resided the past eight years.
Paul was born on February 13, 1919, in Adams County to Clyde and Edna (Welty) Harden.
On April 5, 1942, he married L. Catherine Sovine; she passed away on October 26, 2005.
Paul attended Pleasant Dale Church of the Brethren in rural Decatur.
He was a 53-year member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 166. He was a retired plumber, working first for Haugks in Decatur from 1949-1981 and then for North Adams Community Schools from 1981-1988.
He is survived by six daughters, Barbara Bruner of Michigan; Shirley Harden of Lafayette; Sharon Welch of Decatur; Mrs. Allan (Evelyn) Engle of Decatur; Nancy Ireland of Decatur; and Joanne Romine of Bluffton; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Paul was preceded in death by his wife; one son, Daniel Paul Harden; and two brothers, Fred and Warren Harden.
Visitation is 11 a.m.– 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 27, 2011, at Haggard-Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home, Decatur.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 28, 2011, Haggard-Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home. Officiating will be Pastor Jay Carter.
Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery.
