Bonnie C. Herman, 62, of Decatur, died at 10:40 a.m. Friday at her residence.
She was born on September 13, 1949, in Decatur to Earl M. and Alta May Ruhl Caston, who are deceased.
She married DuWayne Herman on September 15, 1979, in Zion Lutheran Church at Decatur; he survives.
She was a marketing assistant for Family LifeCare in Berne (formerly Family Hospice and Palliative Care of Northeast Indiana) and had served as a hospice social worker.
She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Decatur, serving on many committees, and especially loved singing in the Zion Choir. Other survivors are two daughters, Katie and Jessica Herman of Indianapolis; one son, Nathan Herman of Decatur; one brother, David Caston (and wife Bonnie) of Decatur; and five sisters, Claudia Schnepf of Fort Wayne; Mrs. George (Marian) Elliott of Cicero, Indiana; Mrs. John (Sheila) August and Mrs. Greg (Deborah) Cook of Decatur; and Mrs. Kirk (Karen) Shallcross of Wheaton, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Calvin Caston, on June 2, 2004.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Zion Lutheran Church, Decatur, with Pastor Phil Phifer officiating.
Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery.
Visiting hours are 1-4 and 5-8 p.m. Thursday in Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, and 9-10 a.m. Friday in the church.
Preferred memorials are to Family LifeCare, the hospice in Berne; to the Smile Train organization; and to Zion Lutheran Church.
