Preble and Decatur firefighters made runs on Monday afternoon to the same house in rural Decatur that they had gone to for a fire just six days before.
No one was hurt in the second fire because no one was living in the home due to damage from the first fire. But Mrs. Randy Collier, co-owner of the home, suffered a medical problem and was treated at Adams Memorial Hospital after being brought there from the fire scene by Adams County Emergency Medical Service personnel.
She was later released.
The cause of the second fire has not yet been determined, but will be ascertained by the Preble department working in conjunction with the Indiana Fire Marshall's office.
Preble Fire Chief Dan Elzey said this morning that the cause of the October 4 fire was a blanket on a heater.
Elzey said the October 4 fire caused primarily smoke damage, but the yesterday's blaze caused considerable fire and smoke damage. He said the blaze was under control 10 or 15 minutes after the department arrived.
The Preble department was dispatched to 2888 N. County Rd. 400 West, a couple miles south of Peterson, at 1:24 p.m. and was on the scene until 6 p.m.
Decatur firefighters were called for backup at 1:30 p.m. and were finished by 2:36 p.m.
