Berniece F. McBride, 91, of Decatur, died at 12:55 p.m. Tuesday in the nursing center at Woodcrest Retirement Community.
She was born on February 28, 1920, in Adams County to Harley M. and Edna Gay Tumbleson.
She married Robert J. McBride on April 1, 1941; he passed away on August 9, 2000.
She was a homemaker and a charter member of Monroe United Brethren in Christ Church. She was also a member of Addison Evangelical Free Church in Addison, Illinois, for 25 years, serving as a Sunday School teacher.
She was a volunteer for many years with the Adams County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Surviving are two sons, Brice D. McBride (and wife Geraldine) of Rosemount, Minnesota, and Gerald L. McBride (and wife LaDonna) of Dallas, Texas; one daughter, Mrs. Roger (Ellen) Verden of Bartlett, Illinois; one daughter-in-law, Patricia McBride of Addison, Illinois; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, DeWayne A. McBride and Vernon L. McBride; three sisters, Mildred Kuhn, Helen Tumbleson, and Ruth Striker; and five brothers, Paul, Harley, Dale, Lyle, and Roland Tumbleson.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, with Pastor Troy Green officiating.
Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery.
Visiting hours are 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday in Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home.
Preferred memorials are to Monroe United Brethren in Christ Church or to the Woodcrest Nursing Center.
