Karen Sue Piper, 64, of Celina, Ohio, died at 2:55 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2011, at Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.
She was born on February 24, 1947, in Celina to Robert and Marceta E. Detrick McCullough, who are deceased.
On June 26, 1966, she married Ronald "Butch" Piper of Celina, who survives; they were married for 45 years.
Other survivors are two sons, Scott Piper (and wife Joni) and Steve Piper (and wife Lisa) of Celina; one daughter, Stephanie (and Ross Zimmer) of Celina; nine grandchildren, Kayla Piper, Amber Piper, A.J. Piper, Kara Piper, Kellie Piper, Bethany Piper, Branden Hiler; Megan Hiler, and Michael Piper; and one great-grandson, Dylan Nagel.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Ann Huston.
She graduated from Celina High School in 1965 and was a member of Celina First Church of God, where she served on the missionary board.
She worked for Mersman Brothers Furniture Co. in Celina for seven years, then retired from the City of Celina Public Schools in 2005 after having been an educational aide at East Elementary School and Celina Intermediate School for 25 years.
Funeral services were held today in Celina First Church of God, with Rev. Bruce Strine officiating. Visiting hours were today and Tuesday.
Burial was in Mercer Memory Gardens at Celina.
