Regular season champion Erie Haven dominated second place finisher McIntire Heating in the winner's bracket game of the double-elimination Sandy Koufax League tournament played Monday night at Worthman Field.
In action in the losers' bracket semis at Monroe's Don Ray Memorial Park, Corner Deli of Monroe scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh for a 10-9 win over Bluffton Elks, and Courtesy Motors of Decatur stopped South Adams 9-3 in the second game.
Those two winners will meet tonight at 6 p.m. at Worthman Field in Decatur. The winner tonight will then take on McIntire Heating, which has lost only two games this year, both to Erie Haven.
Erie Haven started early with two in the first and three in the second before finishing with an 11-2 victory. Jacob Hall tripled in the first for the winners and added a double in the second before finishing the night with four hits in all. The victors added three runs in the bottom of the sixth with Ryan Okoniewski getting a double in that frame.
Jordan Hilyard and Brett Bauer both threw for Erie Haven with Hilyard fanning 10. They limited the McIntire team to just two hits in the game. Patrick McBarnes and Parker Zeser pitched for the Heaters.
McIntire will take on tonight's survivor in the double-elimination affair on Wednesday, at 6 p.m., at Worthman Field.
The winner Wednesday will then have to win two games, starting at 6 p.m. Thursday, to take the Adams-Wells Koufax Tournament Championship.
