The Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association has named Alexis Harvey a second team All-State track competitor, it was noted today by Bellmont coach Carl Risch.
Apparently, the association named 40 girls first team all-state and almost that many to the second team. Harvey, a sophomore, placed fourth in the 200 meter run at the IHSAA State Girls Track Meet recently, setting a BHS record with a 24.83.
Wayne’s Briona Thomas, who defeated Harvey in the Northrop Regional in the 200, was named to the first team. Twenty-three first-teamers were named from the Indianapolis area. Ten were named from the Northrop (Fort Wayne) Regional.
Latrice Bolton, Mmakelle Skelton, Demetra Taylor, andn Whitney McDonald of Northrop were named to the first team, as was Snider's Shanelle DeJournett. Pole vaulters Nina Gutermuth and Shophie Gutermuth of Leo, both seniors, were named to the first team.
Outstanding all-around trackster Skyler Carpenter of Westview, and teammate Mandy Jones, were first teamers.
Eighteeen of teh 40 on the second team were from the Indianapolis Regional. Eleven made it from Fort Wayne, includingn Rachel Dincoff (weight events) of DeKalb, and Carroll runner Brianna Johnson.
