Charles Herman Schlemmer, 75, formerly of rural Ohio City, Ohio, died at 6:20 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, in Bryan Care and Rehabilitation Center at Bryan, Ohio.
He was born on November 17, 1935, in Adams County to Rudolph and Irene Kohlmeier Schlemmer.
He retired from International Harvester at Fort Wayne after 30 years of service in production and was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church (Schumm) in rural Willshire, Ohio.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Timothy (Rebecca) Hunnicutt of Rockford, Ohio; two sons, David Schlemmer (and wife Kate) of Marysville, Ohio, and Tim Schlemmer (and wife Stephanie) of Ohio City; one brother, Frederick "Fritz" Schlemmer (and wife Janice) of Decatur; two sisters, Mrs. Bill (Annamarie) Smith and Mrs. Ted (Dorothy) Ruble of Decatur; 13 grandchildren, Mrs. Kevin (Brandy) McDonald, Mrs. Daniel (Rachael) Girard, Natasha Hunnicutt, Joseph Hunnicutt, Tessa Hunnicutt, Timothy Schlemmer, Adam Schlemmer, Phillip Schlemmer, Bethany Schlemmer, Benjamin Schlemmer, Aaron Schlemmer, Alexandria Schlemmer, and Jacob Schlemmer; and four great-grandchildren, Lillian Mae McDonald, Samara McDonald, Russell McDonald, and Chloe Girard.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marsha Schlemmer.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church (Schumm), with Rev. Jeff Patterson officiating.
Burial will be in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery (Schumm).
Visitation is 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Friday in Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, and fom 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday in the church.
Preferred memorials are to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church (Schumm).
